1. Laugh out loud. . . It is scientifically proven that laughing decreases stress levels.
Sitting next to people at work that make you laugh or getting the bus home with a hilarious person. Or...laugh at your own jokes :) L.O.L
2. Go to sleep. . . Personally I know sleep improves my mood & over all happiness.Taking a daily 20 minute nap or getting into bed an hour earlier makes the world of a difference, take it from me my nickname is sleeping beauty. #sleepingproblem
3. Make a list. . . There is nothing like a list. Write down all your tasks and 'to dos'.
Helps to organise your thoughts and calm any anxiety. Me & my bestie are a tad bit obsessed with lists, we love to plan lol, she knows who she is :)
4. Music. . . For me, listening to music is a huge part of my life, whenever I'm feeling down in
the dumps I turn on my fave Nicki Minaj to lift my spirit, when I'm worried I turn on
either Jhene Aiko, Lauryn Hill or Bob Marley to calm my nerves. Music works wonders.
5. Exercise. . . I am aware not every one is into the gym or fitness classes, but a simple brisk walk or a swim or any type of exercise has a serious effect on our brain.
Exercise has been proven to be a more effective stress/anxiety reliever than tranquilliser's.
6. Eliminate toxic people. . . Ain't nobody got time for toxic, mean, nasty people. Get rid of them.
7. Cuddle your pets. . . Besides their cuteness, pets see and hear everything, know exactly
when your feeling down and never judge you, not to mention their loyalty.
They can sense exactly how your feeling. I adore all my babies.
They make me smile every time even without realising.
8. Indulge. . . I believe its a major factor when it comes to happiness, weather its shopping or food.
Make sure to indulge a little in life. Go on, buy the Prada bag or expensive Belgian
chocolates life is too short!
9. Prioritise close relationships. . . Make time for all your day 1s/mains/besties/BFFs whatever
you wanna call them :) Your family, blood is thicker & all that.
10. Count your blessings. . . People who pause each day to reflect on some positive aspect of
lives, experience a heightened sense of happiness and well-being.
Hope
you enjoyed this blog post, I don't claim to be a doctor or therapist
but from my own experience all of the above work wonders. Plus I love
positive, personal lifestyle blog posts.
Have a toasty, cosy Sunday night.

Review on Benefit's 'Luv It Up' palette
'Luv It Up'
I recently recieved this gorgeous Benefit 'Luv It Up' makeup palette as a gift from my generous momma. The palette contains 3 neutral powder eye shadows, a cream eyeshadow and a lip gloss.
The actual makeup comes in a cute little vintage style tin, which is fab cause after your finished with the makeup, you can use it to store your precious expensive jewelery. So handy!
This palette is perfect for everyday use as it contains 3 neutral eye shadows that are suitable for daytime wear but can also be used at night time too, to create that ultra contoured smokey eye.
'Call My Buff'
This is ideal for all over, from lid to brow bone to create a base for the other shadows to sit on.
'Nude Swings' This gold pigmentated shadow can be used all over the eyelid, not passing out crease.
'Thanks A Latte'
I personally love to use this in the crease but blend it out a good bit above the crease to give an exaggerated '3D' effect, contouring the eyes.
Here are some swatches I took a snap of earlier.
Such natural pretty tones.
The 'Luv It Up' palette also contains a mini tube of Benefit's popular lip gloss 'Dandelion'.
Personally glosses wouldn't be my fave, I prefer my matte lipsticks, but this gloss paired with my fave matte nude lipstick (Myth by MAC) looks absolutely devine and smells even better.
Think vanilla/watermelon. Hello like! Yum! Who doesn't want to smell like that?!
Last but not least.
The 'Creaseless Cream' eyeshadow that can also be used as an eye shadow primer and
highlighter too.
Really? YES. One product, but you are getting so much more than a cream shadow.
This cream shadow has a beautiful smooth, creamy consistancy and glides on so well and suprisingly stays put without creasing..hence the name 'creaseless', whitty ehh?! :)
For those of you that have a major makeup and palette collection, like myself..there is nothing that really stands out about this palette. Other than the gorgeous packaging, vintage style tin it comes in. However in saying that the products are luxurious quality, highly pigmentated and of course give that desired 'neutral' daytime look.
The 'Luv It Up' palette would be a perfect christmas gift for a beginner or somebody that wants to create a glam look with fab products yet remaining natural, 'nude' and fresh looking.
Hope you all enjoyed,
Until my next blog post..

Current hair care post/ L'Oreal Elvive
Hey you guys,
Apologies about the lack of posts, my last blog post 'The Hater' was approx 3 weeks ago.
That blog post in particular recieved crazy views, and such good feedback so thank you all for that! :)
This morning I decided to blog about the hair care products I am currently using and absolutely loving! Recently I had my hair done and decided on putting quite a lot of blonde lights through my medium brown hair. So my current hair care routine focuses mainly on the repair and nourishment side of hair care.
The Extraordinary Oil is amazing for hair that may be damaged due to colour or lack of moisture.
The oil contains a UV filter to protect it from the sun and other harmful polutants in the air, a blend of 6 flower extracts so as you can imagine smells devine. Its non greasy and leaves your hair silky smooth. I usually apply this and braid my hair before I go to bed so it allows the oil to soak right in.
I prefer to use it as a mask twice a week but it can also be used through the ends of damp hair when
blow drying.
Nourishing Shampoo works a treat for people who suffer with very dry, dull and rebellious hair.
Also enriched with 6 flower extracts the L'Oreal shampoo does exactly what it says on the tin.
While it nourishes hair it also nourishes the scalp which is so important in a shampoo and often is forgotten about. A gorgeous luxurious creamy texture, that smells even more amazing that it leaves your hair feeling! I feel a conditioner is not nesescary with this shampoo and oi. Quality products without breaking the bank which will leave your hair looking silky smooth in no time.
I picked both of these up in Boots along with another L'Oreal product on a '3 for 13' offer which is an absolute steal if you ask me!
Below is my current hair colour, a caramel scattered baliage. Dyed and styled by the lovely and talented Amy at 'Dial and Style'.
Until next time guys and gals :)

The Hater
Hater; noun
Definition: A person who greatly dislikes a person or specific thing.
Recently I recieved some pathetic hatred towards myself and my blog Vanity Vixen.
I just could not get my head around how people could show hatred and just say generaly unpleasant things about me, when I was only doing what I loved & enjoyed. To be honest it did upset me first, for like a few hours, until I woke up the next morning and asked myself...
''Seriously? Your upset over people who clearly have nothing more exciting in their lives than to gossip about you?!''
Haters usually only hate for 3 main reasons;
1. They hate on people they secretly admire
2. Its a reflection of the hatred they have for themselves, Low self esteem.
Hence why they point out YOUR flaws, to basically make themselves feel better.
3. They are just miserable people, who hate to see other people try to make something of themselves.
I don't necessarily think jelousey is the case in all situations, but I do genuinely think it has got every reason to do with the 'hater' not being happy for another person's good luck or success.
Since starting Vanity Vixen besides all the lovely followers and readers I've gained, I have also gained some haters. Some of the things I hear back are ''Who does your one think she is? She is so vain like!State of all her selfies!'' or another one is ''Shes not that good looking, she could never be a youtuber''.....I hear these and I'm like Zzzzzzzz... Can people actually really be this miserable??
You get tired of being criticized after a while.
But that is only to be expected, when you expose yourself to the public, weather its blogging, acting, singing, modelling or dancing you will be open to critic, but some people will take it to an extreme eg. the haters :-)
My advice for any young women or men out there recieving hate from a hater,
Don't stress it, Do you even know these people first of all? and are their own lives really that boring
to be talking sh*t about your new hair/clothes/weight or new blog post.
If you didn't have some haters you would be doing something wrong.
Keep doing your thang, keep smiling...make them mad.
To my haters...I'm sure some of you are reading this.
I have so much more for you to be mad at.
Just be patient.

Hottest Lipsticks For Autumn 2014

So this Autumn there are 3 hot lipstick trends sporting the A/W 14 catwalk and this blog post will basically tell you all you need to know about these super cute trends.
Neutral Nudes, Rich Reds, and Feminine berries.
I know, I was so excited when I saw these 3 gorgeous colours. So fashionable and showstopping on the catwalk but yet so wearable and pretty off the stage!
I don't know about you but personally I am a nude and peach girl ALL DAY LONG! My personal preference when It comes to a lipstick is a matte finish but also a moisturising/creamy texture to prevent my lips from drying up.
Nudes
Nude lipstick is huge with 'Versace' and 'Givenchy'on the catwalk this Fall 2014.
When it comes to nude lipsticks, alot of women tend to shy away from the colour as sometimes it can make a complexion look washed out or simply look 'dead'. Truth is if this happens, the shade is not the correct shade for your skin tone. Stick to a colour close to your natural lip colour, pink, browns or peachy under tones are always a safe option. Avoid any nude lipsticks that are too white, you want something that is natural looking but glam at the same time. I personally love 'Myth' and 'Creme Cup' by MAC. I also love Clinique's long lasting lipstick in 'Matte Suede'.
Reds
'Ana Sui' will be sporting alot of red lips on the catwalk this Fall 2014.
Some red lipsticks are hit and miss but I think once you find the right red for you, you never look back! Some of my faves include the infamous 'Russian Red' and 'Ruby Woo' by MAC. These red's are absolute classics that suit almost every skin type, sallow or fair. Bobbi Brown and YSL are also faves of mine although quite pricey, when I'm feeling like I want to spoil myself these are the two lipstick brands I'd go for, the quality is second to none.
Berries
I truly believe this lip colour will never go out of fashion. This colour makes me excited, It adds so much characteristic to a face. I absolutely adore this trend. Highly popular on the runway this Autumn, but also a pretty addition to an outfit on a night out on the town. As all my readers know, I am a self confessed MAC addict, so my MAC faves would have to be; 'Diva' and 'Yield To Love'. Life is too short, go get yaaaself a berrie coloured lipstick! Its something you won't regret. There are many things in life I regret, but buying a berrie/burgundy lipstick was never one of them!
Have a fab weekend guys :)
Until next time..

Super Food=Super Skin
Super Food=Super Skin
The following foods are proven to improve overall health but more importantly have an amazing effect on our skin. Below I will list out my top 5 super foods that keep my skin glowing and help to fight acne and have an anti-ageing effect on our skin.
1. Blueberries
Blueberries contains tones of antioxidants which fight toxins in the body. There are so many vitamins and nutrients in blueberries that are fantastic for your skin. Whether you suffer from acne, broken capillaries or splotchy skin, the nutrients in blueberries will help.
Many of the vitamins in blueberries may neutralise or normalise oil levels in your skin, making it healthier and less likely to produce more sebum. Vitamin A is a major vitamin that is found in the blueberry, this vitamin is used in a variety of acne-related skin treatments.
2. Kale
Often described as the healthiest vegetable's in the world, and a nutritional powerhouse Kale has an amazing effect on skin. Kale boosts the health of our skin as it contains Vitamin C and LOTS of it!
Vitamin C helps you make the collagen needed for skin strength. Vitamin C's antioxidant function also means it might provide natural protection from the sun, preventing skin damage caused by exposure to the sun's rays. I always make sure I pop some into a morning smoothie if I have one, keeps me going for the morning.
3. Walnuts
These babies contains loads of fatty acids which is good news for people who suffer from eczema. They also contain Vitamin B which is an excellent stress and mood manager. Less stress means better skin. Increased stress levels can lead to unexpected breakouts but worse can lead to earlier onset of wrinkles which increases the ageing process! Those with dry skin should try applying warm walnut oil regularly enhancing growth of healthier and radiant cells while keeping your skin moisturised.
4. Oily Fish
Oily fish, like salmon, mackerel, sardines, anchovies, herring, trout all contain unreal levels of omega 3 fatty acids.People who suffer with dry skin conditions such as eczema have a deficiency in omega 3 levels. Eating up to 3 portions of fish a week can have a significant effect on dry skin conditions. As well as containing fatty acids they also are packed full of other important nutrients such as selenium, magnesium, vitamins B12, B6 and B3. Eat up!
5. Watermelon
Water melons contain 92% water so are fantastic for preventing dehydration during the summer.
Not only does it hydrate you-resulting in radiant skin but it also prevent fine lines, wrinkles and age spot. The watermelon fruit is also used in shower gels, lipsticks, lip gloss and shampoos because of its gorgeous smelling refreshing scent.
The juice of a watermelon is also one of the best ways you can cure acne. Massage the juice into skin everyday to improve appearance of skin.
Hope this inspired you all to up your dosage of super foods guys.
Until next time..:)

A happy mind, is a healthy mind
This blog post is something I wouldn't usually do as its not beauty or makeup related but its a subject I am very passionate about...so here it goes. Hope you all enjoy.
They say ''A happy mind, is a healthy mind''
It wasn't only until recently I truly understood the meaning of this. Before I would have associated the word happiness with having lots of money, designer clothes, luxurious cosmetics, a 'Channing Tatum' look alike boyfriend , oh and a cute car. But I couldn't have been more wrong, happiness is not something you can buy, it's something that comes from within. I believe only you are responsible for your own happiness in life, my mom has been drilling this into my head since I was a child and only now has it sunk in.
So far in my 22 years I have been so lucky to be surrounded by good, positive people who only want the best for me & are constantly looking out for me. But like the majority of humanity I have come across negative people and places that have had a negative impact on my life. Once I realised this I took a 'spring clean' approach to life back then. Started fresh. Eliminating something or someone from your life that doesn't make you happy, be it a person or a job, is probably one of the best things you can do for yourself, your mind, your soul and your happiness.
This is possibly one of my all time favourite quotes EVER!
''Free yourself from negative people, spend time with nice people who are smart, driven and like minded.
Relationships should help you, not hurt you. Surround yourself with people who reflect the person you want to be. Chose friends who you are proud to know, people you admire, who love and respect you -
people who make your day a little brighter by being in it. Life is too short to spend time with people who suck the happiness out of you. When you free yourself from negative places, people and thoughts, you free yourself to be you and being you is the only way to truly live''
I'm not trying to preach to the choir or go all Buddha on yo asses but all I am trying to get across is be happy, be healthy, don't worry about the material things in life or that super model boyfriend we all want. Focus on having a happy mind & soul and the rest in life will look after itself.

Steal RiRi's Style
Steal Her Style
Recently Rihanna was seen out and about sporting a dark retro purple lip. After seeing the star rocking this gorgeous shade of purple I am slightly obsessed! Her lipstick seems to look very similar to MAC's popular lipstick Heroine. I cant help but love everything this woman wears, makeup wise aswell as fashion, she could wear a bin bag and make it look good!
The best thing about this lipstick is that it literally suits both fair and dark skin. It looks fantastic against a pale complexion yet adds a beautiful pop of bright colour to a dark skin tone.
The dark purple lip is here to stay and is being being seen more and more especially on the runway for autumn/winter '14.
As this lipstick is very much a bold, statement colour I would team this up with a neutral eye, mascara, strong brows, very little blush, and a generous amount of matte bronzer to prevent the colour from making me look drained.
This MAC lipstick 'Heroine' is definitely a must for any woman who loves to keep up with makeup trends and is not afraid to experiment with bold, cheeky colours.

Surviving a break up
I'm not an expert on break ups but I know from experience It can be very hard to get over that horrible hurdle. I know most of you all enjoy my blog posts on makeup and skin care but I said tonight I would write about something different but something all of you can relate to.
First things first. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Sounds ridiculous now but seriously things can only get better, but you have got to help yourself & be your own hero.
Take it one day at a time, because it will take alot of time, but each day it gets better.
I am living proof you can get through a break up, proof that you are going to be OK and proof that in time you be happy again.
My breakup tips
-Download a playlist of depressing songs-gets out all your cry's and emotions (sounds silly but helps)
-Download a playlist of empowering songs- My faves are Beyonce Run The World and (typical LOL!)
-Write a list reminding you of reasons why it would never work out
-Write a list of things you like about yourself
-Dedicate atleast one day a week to spending time with your bestie's (helped me loads!)
-Don't be afraid to cry...its not a sign of weakness, its a sign of letting it all out & eventually letting go
-Exercise more, I increased my gym and walking & I felt fantastic. It made me focus on something else and is a proven fact that exercising increases levels of dopamine (happy hormone) in the brain.
-Buy yourself an new outfit or get your nails done, treat yourself!
-Most importantly talk to someone you trust about the way your feeling, do not bottle stuff up!
Slowly I have learned to enjoy my own company instead of relying on somebody to fill that gap, but most importantly depend on yourself and nobody else. My mom always says it and she is bang on as usual ''You are the only one responsible for your own happiness, nobody else''
Happiness comes from within girls, never allow anybody that much power over your life.
Don't worry, be happy, it will all work out. Give it time.

My top 3 Foundations
These 3 foundations are based on my personal opinion so I cant guarantee that they will suit your skin.
I am a 22 year woman that has combination skin; oily t-zone and dry cheek area. Suffer from the odd breakout but skin is mostly clear and I LOVE LOVE LOVE full coverage! Always have & always will.
1. Vichy 'Dermablend' As you all know I adore this foundation. Its a corrective product so covers scars, strecth marks and even tattoos. I dont need this coverage to be honest however I always want a full coverage foundation. I feel naked without it. In terms of price and quality 10/10. I would buy 3 tubes of this in 3 diff colours #opal, #bronze and #tan. Costing €21.00 per tube these would last me 3 months. Could not praise Vichy's products enough, especially their skin care range that tackles acne prone skin.
2. Clinique 'Repair wear' I wore this back when I was 16 I'd say, a very similar texture to the dermablend. Love creamy consistancy's when it comes to foundation and 'repair wear' ticks all the boxes for me, although a bit more expensive than Vichy retailing @ around the 30ish mark. However well worth it, suits mostly mature skin type but as I said I love a full coverage foundation! :)
3. Bare Minerals I never thought I would be a fan but I have got to admit I am. Bare minerals is a powder. The coverage can go from light to heavy, what ever you want it is so buildable, perfect for lazy days where I am not feeling like full coverage and just want a healthy glow. You can almost sleep in this foundation and I found it almost improved my skin. The ingredients include natural minerals from the skin that are fantastic for your skin. I bought the spray with the powder, liquidized the powder and built it up until it was full coverage. An ideal option for a person with oily skin.

The 'Do's and Dont's' on how to achieve a flawless face
DO's
1. Prime your skin. It is so important you create a smooth, moisturised base for your makeup to sit on.
Priming your skin also creates a barrier between the foundation and your pores, preventing your pores from getting clogged with makeup which triggers breakouts.A primer also helps keep on your makeup for a longer period throughout the day or night. In the Summer weather I would recommend a silicone based primer, the silicone prevents the humidity in the air effecting your makeup.
2. Highlight. I constantly get asked what products I use to highlight. I love using liquid highlighters as they leave a gorgeous natural dewy glow on the skin. My fave liquid highlighter would be without a doubt, Benefit's 'Highbeam'. Powder highlighters are also great too if you like a more intense glow. I love MAC's 'Soft and Gentle' and Sleek's 'Face Form' palette.
3. Contour. Contouring can change our whole face if applied correctly. I usually use a cream contouring palette by 'Coastal Scents' although I am hoping to purchase the 'Anastasia Beverley Hill's' palette very soon. I apply to the temples, cheekbones, jawline and sides of nose and blend with a fluffy blending brush. I then set it all with a matte bronzer by Sleek called the 'Face Form' palette. I LOVE THIS! Pick it up at your local Boots store, so inexpensive!
4. Conceal. So many women make the mistake in just applying foundation all over and never concealing blemishes, redness or dark circles. This is a huge NO NO. Concealing in so important in achieving a flawless face. I love a green concealer to even out redness around my nose, chin and cheek area. Also applying concealer in a 'V' shape under the eye and up to side of temple area creates a mini eye lift and can instantly brighten up your whole face.
5. Translucent powder. I never leave the house without my powder, as I have combination skin I find my t-zone gets oily quite quick. For any skin type I would recommend a good compact translucent powder that you can carry in your hand bag to top up and control that shininess when ever, where ever you are.
DONT'S
1. Overdo mascara. I'm all about my dramatic eyes but there is a time and a place. Lashing on 10 coats of mascara for work is going to look a tad bit OTT, plus save it for a special night out and you'll feel amazing as you wont be use to seeing your lashes as big.
2. Cake on blush. First of all pick a soft subtle colour that suits your skin and hair colour. I am very pale naturally so I would use a soft peachy/rose colour. Secondly use a good quality blush brush. Your products will only be as good as the tools you use to apply them with.
3. Over pluck brows. Leave your eyebrows alone! Apart from the odd stray hair do not pluck your brows inbetween your brow appointments. I am a qualified beauty therapist so I would have a good idea on how to shape brows but if your not certain, leave them be and go make an appointment! My fave place in Cork City is 'iBrow', they do fantastic brow treatments.
4. Get carried away with glitters/shines and shimmers. A little extra shine or glitter can spice up an evening look, but during the day it's just distracting, and not very flattering in the daylight. I love to stick to mainly matte lipsticks, bronzers and eyeshadows. I am matte obsessed!
5. Skip lipstick. Adding a little pop of colour to the lips in the morning can do wonders for a tired, washed out complexion. I love my pastel pink matte lipstick by MAC called Snob. I carry it with me everywhere, I wear that during daytime, at work etc but at night I love my nudes 'myth' or 'creme cup' both by MAC are two favourites of mine and of course if I'm opting for the 'vampy' look I love 'Diva' or 'Rebel'
Remember the key to a flawless face is to have good skin underneath. Drinking lots of water, taking vitamins and fish oils can help with your skin alot. Wearing an SPF on skin and lips is also a must, avoiding the sun when you can but also getting enough so you are not lacking in vitamin D. I also love weekly face masks and scrubs to keep my skin looking fresh and healthy which benefits my skin and my makeup in the long run.
Hope this helped girls :-) Have a fab weekend.

5 Ways To Get A Bigger Plumper Pout (the non surgical way)
Lips are are such an important feature of the face and I always 100% enhance mine as much as possible. However, this is a skill girls, and don't be fooled it's not that easy either. Always remember practice makes perfect! The key is to keep it as natural as possible to maintain your natural beauty.

1. Lip liner: Line a little bit outside your natural lip shape (as seen above).
Keep a light hand and a shade of liner similar to your own natural lip colour.
Rihanna is a celebrity that is famous for lining outside her lips, enhancing them even more, making them appear larger and more defined. Lining your lips also stops your lipstick from running or 'bleeding' so lining your lips will not only boost the size and shape but also keep your lipstick on for much longer on that night out on the town.
2. Essential oils: The cayenne pepper is extremely spicy and effective D.I.Y way to achieve fuller lips. Mix a small amount of pepper with water to form a thin paste. Apply this on your lips and leave it for about ten minutes. Rinse off with water. Avoid licking your lips when the paste is applied on your lips. Peppermint oil causes the swelling which makes them appear fuller and pink. Applying cinnamon oil to lips is also a way to boost that pout. It is better to mix lip balm while using the cinnamon oil. Remember the oil is very spicy so a little goes a long way. This will give you fuller and redder lips. Use this method only twice a week and this will make your lips naturally bigger and plumped.

3. Regular lip excercises: These exercises will stimulate collagen production which promotes plumped lips. Do not apply lipsticks or lip balms when starting these exercises, wash your lips thoroughly. There are different lip exercises that support plumping effects on lips. Whistle: Whistling help lip muscles to become active thereby increases the volume. This make them look attractive and plumped. Kiss: Puck up your lips using all your energy as if kissing. Smile: Pressing lips together. Repeat all these little excercises atleast 10 times a day. (You may look very odd but who cares if your lips grow!)
4. Lip Plumpers: Bought from the pharmacies/drugstores are fantastic. My 2 personal faves are the Too Faced 'Lip Injection' or Sally Hansen's 'Lip Inflation' as they are both a gorgeous neutral shade that go well over any nude/pink lipsticks and these products do exactly what they claim they do. Your lips more or less swell out (in a good way) it tingles quite a bit for a few minutes however after a while your lips feel normal again except noticeably bigger in size.
5. Exfoliation and brushing: Exfoliate your lips this gives you a plumping effect. You can use a lip exfoliator or brush your lips with a toothbrush. Apply some Vaseline or Carmex balm to lips; this will make it more moisturized and appear fuller. This process might cause little irritation as the skin on the lips is quite sensitive compared to skin of body parts.
I hope this will all help you achieve a bigger more plumper pout ladies.

Constant exhaustion
Since the age of twelve constant exhaustion and a lack of energy has been a huge part of my life.
As you can imagine it is really frustrating when you know for sure there is something not right but doctors can't give you any answers. I have endured numerous horrible blood tests (hate needles) to rule out anemia, underactive thyroid, hemoglobinosis, caeliac disease, and diabetes.
I am 22 now, and still haven't been diagnosed with anything. Its gotten to a stage now where I am trolling the internet for answers and literally self diagnosing LOL which is the worst thing you can do!
In school and college I was notorious for falling asleep in EVERY class, after awhile teachers and friends knew there was something up. I laughed it off but really it upset me that I wasn't able to stay awake for a class I enjoyed like Art or English. In college I studied beauty therapy and it was so difficult to study and keep up with the practical work, so much that it is safe to say I really struggled with college life.
So now I've reached a stage where I refuse to be fobbed off anymore and am determined to be diagnosed with something, atleast then it can be treated. More than likely I am thinking I suffer from
'Cronic Fatigue Syndrome' or 'Hypersomnia'. I don't claim to be an expert, I know I'm not a doctor but I have been living with this for 10 years now so I have a general idea of what it may be.
I have yet to meet someone who feels the same way I do or understand exactly what its like to be constantly tired and not be able to treat it. Its disheartening but it doesn't stop me from going to work, meeting friends and living a normal life, which I am very greatful for as I know some people are not as lucky.
If any of you girls suffer from constant exhaustion to the point where it effects your everyday life, would love to hear from you, would appreciate it your thoughts and opinions. Its always nice to know your not on your own :)

Skin care update
Hey girls, I know it's been a few days since my last blog post but recently I got a new job, full time 40 hours a week, which I am absolutely over the moon about! So I've been up the walls, it's been pretty hectic but I always get around to blogging. I wouldn't dream of neglecting Vanity Vixen. Its apart of my life now & I wouldn't have it any other way :-)
Anyway, I decided to do an updated skin care post as I have been having problems with my skin lately. This is very unusual for me as my skin rarely breaks out and is nearly always blemish free. However I found the last two months, my skin flaring up and breaking out around my chin and forehead area. It was very frustrating for me because I guess I took my clear skin for granted until this happened.
So I decided to go to my doctor and ask her what she thought. I was on 'YAZ' a contraceptive pill (since the age of 17) so straight away my doctor recommended a different pill as this one was not agreeing with my skin anymore. So since then I have started a new pill which is a known for balancing out hormones which will in turn clear up my skin-hopefully! I have been on it the past 15 days now and can really see a difference. There is less oil in my t-zone area and less flare ups.
I also have been doing the following to help my skin look and feel more healthy:
-Taking 1 cod liver oil tablet once a day
-Drinking 4 Litres of water a day
-More fruit (berries, full of anti oxidents) and veg, less chocolate and crisps
-3-4 cups of green tea, gets rid of impurities and toxins
-1 primrose evening tablet a day
-Applying tea tree oil to dry up any unwanted blemishes
-Started using a different cleanser to rebalance my skin (Jurlique)
-Currently using a mattifying moisturiser to get rid of any excess oil on skin
I will admit the hardest part of all this has been the cutting down on junk food and upping my water and veg intake. However I am slowly but surely seeing improvements. It takes time girls, it doesn't happen over night, be patient!
Your skin is so important never take it for granted. Invest in your skin, come 10/20 years down the line you'll be glad you did.

Wishlist Wednesday
So today is Wednesday and I have decided to do a new fun blog post dedicated to my current 'wish list'.
I think almost every girl has a wish list, weather it be that expensive high end makeup, a designer bag, luxurious clothes or that exotic holiday you've been dreaming about. My wish list doesn't end either, I'm a demon, always adding to it. :)
1. Beauty Box/Organizer- These are so handy for organizing makeup, and because it is see through you don't have to search for your fave lipstick for hours on end. When it comes to my makeup I am slightly obsessed with having everything neat and tidy. This beauty box is perfect for organization junkies. These can be purchased online. They have a fantastic range and variety on e-bay.
2. Anastasia Beverley Hills 'Contour Book' - This ultimate book consists of contouring, correcting and highlighting shades, for literally EVERY skin tone. It looks so amazing! This is not actually for sale, Anastasia and her team recently sent these books out to all her fave Instagram makeup artists to review shades and colours etc. However the actual refill palettes will be available to buy very soon online.
Anastasia Beverley Hill's have one of the best contouring palettes out there.
3. Tom Ford 12 piece Brush set- Besides being one of my fave songs and designers Tom Ford has brought out a beautiful white brush set. When I felt these brushes, they were literally like silk, i fell in love straight away! I can only imagine how well they'd apply a foundation or a highlighter.
Some day..some day! :)
4. Giuseppe Zanotti Heels- I have seen these babies on numerous celebs like J.Lo and Kim Kardashian but when I saw them on Nicki Minaj I fell in love with them (majorrrrr Nicki fan ). These heels would go with everything but at the same time would add that wow factor to any outfit. It is my absolute goal in life to buy a pair of these! :)
5. Exotic holiday in Seychelles Island- Seychelles Island is a beautiful Island in the Indian Ocean. It has several beautiful beaches and some of the most breath taking scenery in the world.Newly wed Rosanna Davison actually just spent her Honeymoon on this exact Island.
This would be 100% my dream holiday, escaping all the hustle and bustle of a busy life, sipping on some fresh coconuts, being fed fruit by a Tom Hardy look alike... A girls got to dream big! :-)

Technique Tuesday
Sorry I posted this so late girls but I've been super busy, makes good bedtime reading anyway!:)
I decided to write this post for all the girls/women out there who find they just can't perfect that sultry smokey eye no matter what they do. The key is technique, the correct technique and that's what I am going to talk about today.
In my experience as a makeup artist the most requested look is a 'Kim Kardashian' or 'Mila Kunis' inspired smokey eye, why? because they look good obviously but mainly because they have a fantastic makeup artist that know exactly how to perfect that certain smokey technique.
1. Quality brushes are essential in getting your technique right. I use 'Real Technique' or 'Ecotools' brushes.
2 .A primer needs to be applied all over the eyelid to create a smooth base so that the pigment of the shadow has something to sit and stick to.
3. A light hand needs to be used when applying an eyeshadow or a pigment, usually using a 'packing' or 'patting' motion.
4. When blending an eyeshadow you blend upwards and outwards but as light handed as possible in circular motions. Blending is always done with a fluffy, very soft blending brush.
5. How do you know when to stop blending?
There should be no harsh lines left and the transition between the two colours should be almost invisable.
6. Always blend out with a lighter colour. For example if I was defining the crease with a dark brown, I would blend out with a light brown to soften the dark brown on the crease. This takes that horrible harsh line away and softens it, which in turn creates the 'smokey' effect that you want.
Always remember practice make perfect and consistancy is key. If you want to perfect that smokey eye you've always dreamed of being able to do, then do it, but it is going to take time.
Dont expect eyes like Kim or Mila first go because chances are it wont look like that.
Youtube is fantastic aswell for helping out with detailed step by step tutorials.
I actually can't wait to start my youtube (eventually) :-)
Everybody's got to start somewhere so get practicing ladies and remember BLEND BLEND BLEND.
Hope this helped.

How To Clean Your Makeup Brushes Like a Pro
How To Clean Your Makeup Brushes Like a Pro
Cleaning your makeup brushes is vital for keeping bacteria at bay and maintaining your soft brushes.
A build up of makeup on brushes can stiffen and harden them, this then can irritate sensitive skin.
Also if you are using your brushes on friends or your clients cleaning brushes is SO important in preventing cross infection.
(These are not all of my brushes, just a few. I was too lazy to clean them all!)
*Regular cleaning will help remove:
-Old makeup
-Dirt and debris
-Oils
-Bacteria

*How many times a week should you clean brushes?
Once a week atleast, but preferably 2-3 times, depending on how much you are using them and who you are using them on. I always wash my brushes at night before I go to bed, that way you are giving the brushes enough time to dry before you use them again.
Alot of girls ask me do I use high end brush cleansers like MAC etc. The answer is no,
I don't believe in spending that amount of money on a cleanser (especially if you don't have that kind of money.) Below I will show you two of the most effective cleansers I use, which are easy to get your hands on and also super inexpensive.
Johnson's Baby Shampoo & a sponge:
Wet your brush making sure you wet the brush completely. Squeeze a small amount of shampoo onto the sponge and swirl your brush on the sponge in circular motions. Then rinse your brush with warm water (never hot, can damage bristles). Make sure you rinse all the shampoo out of the brush. If it is still 'suddy' continue to rinse until your brush feels squeeky clean. Again squeeze out rest of the water, shape them back to their original shape, this is very important.
Now lay them flat on a clean towel to dry.
Olive Oil:
I only use this for my brushes that are heavily embedded with makeup. Like, if you used your brush in a gel liner or if the brush is very stiff with makeup residue. Take some paper towel and drip a tiny amount of olive oil and swirl the dry brush onto the towel. Don’t use too much oil. You just want to use enough to help break down the makeup on the brush. After that's done, clean the brush like normal with the baby shampoo and make sure you rinse the brush completely and lay flat on a clean towel to dry.
There you have it, a fast, easy and inexpensive way to clean your babies.
I really cannot stress enough how important it is to clean your brushes, not just for hygiene purposes
but to get as much as you can out of your brushes, and to keep them soft and silk. If you are uncertain about which makeup brushes to chose I would highly recommend the 'Real Technique' brushes by Samantha Chapman (Pixie Woo on Youtube) and the 'Eco Tool's'. These both can be purchased in Boots for budget friendly prices.

-Oils
-Bacteria
-Dead skin cells

Review on NYX goodies
So girls I finally got my hands on two NYX products. I chose the 'Dewy Finish' setting spray and the 'HD Photogenic' concealor. I picked them both up in Sam Mc Cauley's chemist in Blackpool just 5 minutes outside Cork City. To say that I was excited is an understatement...literally like a child at Christmas! However I was pretty dissapointed with the selection, very limited but I expected that as it is only being stocked in Ireland a few months.
I chose the 'Dewy Finish' setting spray as I decided I needed something to set my makeup in this clammy humid weather we are recently having. This spray is fantastic and lives up to the hype I've heard so much about. It sets your makeup and keeps it in place, while giving a gorgeous dewy glow.
I sprayed a little bit onto my t-zone; that is my problem area, where I am most oily. I found my foundation didn't as much as it normally did after a few hours. It also kept my face shine free which is always a bonus! Big thumbs up for this Summer essential and @ only €9.99 is a very reasonable price for such a professional brand.
The 'HD Photogenic' concealor is now one of my holy grail products that I will be purchasing again and again. Cannot get enough of this concealor, the coverage is just WOWZA with a gorgeous creamy consistancy yet feels very light on the skin. I use this under the eye and temple area, creating a 'V' shape to disguise those dreaded dark circles and give the eye area a natural lift. The concealor is especially designed to work well on the skin behind a camera. So girls this is defo a must have product for that 'selfie central' night out on the town.
Over all I am delighted with how the products lived up to my expectations, and for the price I paid for these two products (all under €17) I will be defo stocking up on more NYX goodies.
